Pretentious Hypocrites - "Ghoti"

"The same people who love to explain that "fish" can be spelled as "ghoti" are the same people who lose their sh*t completely when they see "could" written as "cud"."

'The Hunger Games' - An Unintentional Liveblogging

Dave
will be watching "The Hunger Games" this evening. Expectations for the film are low, so the bar it has to clear may as well just be left on the ground.

Mark
hmmm. we'll see.

Think Battle Royale for American tweens and you'll have an idea of what's coming. Having said that, it's not as bad as it could've been.

HALO 4 Release Day

GAMESTOP had 'HALO 4' but the guy behind the counter still chose to tell me that I should have pre-ordered it, and that a copy which was already opened and stored in a grubby sleeve behind the counter was the best I could hope for since I hadn't pre-ordered it. It cost €60, and he assured me that I'd be back to pick it up but couldn't guarantee that the game would still be there when I returned.

HMV had many copies of 'HALO 4', still in the wrapping, & were more than happy to sell it to me for €45 with zero additional bother.

End result: I'm writing this while the the multiplayer servers find me a 'Capture the Flag' match. Thanks, HMV!

Disney acquires the sh*t out of Lucasfilm

Disney have bought Lucasfilm. I don't understand the broad strokes of how the payment breaks down but what I do understand is this: Disney now owns the rights to make a 'Star Wars 7', and Disney now owns the rights to the Star Wars Universe and can do with it as they please.
In some capacity George Lucas will still stay on as a creative consultant, which makes sense since he has been with the Star Wars Universe since day one, steering things seems to make sense canonically. What he won't be doing is writing or directing the future movies, and this is the most important part of the whole deal for me.
